Tobi rubs her eyes.  "Mmh, shit, sorry.  You okay?"

"I - yeah.  I - "

"I don't bite, don't worry," Tobi says.  She sits up.  "Sorry to startle you."

"It's okay."

" - You, uh, wanna go get changed?"

She nods, and disappears around the corner.

And returns shortly.

"Hey," Tobi says.  "Gotcha some more water."

Bryce takes the glass, a little hesitantly.  " - Thanks."

"No problem."

As Bryce turns to go, Tobi stops her.

"Hey, uh - are you, like, okay?"

"I -"

(Tell her and then at least someone will know -)

She sucks in a steadying breath, tries to put on something like a smile.

"Yeah!  I'm fine."

"Okay.  Cuz - I know this shit gets tough, and, like, granted, I am a random stranger, but if you want someone to talk to..."

"I've - got Raine..." she says, inflecting it in a way that makes it somehow not exactly sound like a no-thank-you.

"Yeah, but having just one person to talk to can drive you a little crazy no matter how great they are.  I got my Kyubey, I got my guy who does my tracking for me, I got a bunch of internet friends, and I still go a little crazy sometimes.  I mean, internet people I can't tell about shit, but still."

"No one would -"

She stops.

She waits.

"Just - no one's - really trustworthy, I guess," Bryce says.  "Especially magical girls."

"...So, like," Tobi says, "I do kinda get the impression there's something about people like us that means we don't work well together in teams.  But I don't think that means we're all, like, evil, you know?  Being a nomad, you meet a lot of strange magical girls, and - yeah, lots of 'em do fucked up shit.  But plenty of them are friendly if you just run into them in a club or something.  Raine's pretty cool as magical girls go, and I wouldn't bet on finding another League, but that doesn't mean anyone you meet's gonna kill you on sight."

" - That's not what Raine says."

"Well, maybe we've had different experiences," Tobi says, a little dubiously.  "And, like, if I'm prying too much and you wanna tell me to fuck off, feel free," she adds, smirking.  "But if you ever do want another perspective on magic shit, feel free to shine the refrigerator light in my eyes again.  Actually don't do that, talk to me during the day."

She laughs a little.

Tobi grins.  And yawns.  "Probably not a bad idea to do the sleep thing, though.  See you tomorrow?"
