She raises her soda in a mock toast.  "I'll say."

"Here's to not running into assholes on literally every corner." And she raises her glass a bit, too.

"Cheers."

Sip.

"So, uh, what do you guys usually do for dinner, anyway?  I'm getting a bit hungry."

"Hm - lots of things. I'm big into home-cooked stuff, we have some leftovers from last time I cooked I think, but we also have some frozen TV dinners and instant noodles for when we're feeling lazy. What're you in the mood for?"

"Well, I'm not crazy about frozen dinners, but I'm not picky.  Leftovers sounds fine."

Leftovers can be had, then.

"So where've you been in your wandering? Jackson, obviously. Anywhere else interesting?"

"All over the South, lately.  Mmm, a while back I ran into another friendly girl in Nashville, wound up pointing her towards the League.  I don't know if she joined up or what.  I don't do a lot of sightseeing but I get to stay in lots of fancy hotels - my wish was to win the lottery, so I could do the magical girl thing without worrying about a side job for a while.  I've been farther north, but it's been a while ... Oh, one time I checked out this big kinda tourist trappy place in Wisconsin called the House on the Rock, have you heard of it?  It was - weird, it's a big building you can walk through, all moodily lit and maze-y.  There's clockwork orchestras and fortune machines and rooms full of, like, collections, of dolls and suits of armor and fancy guns, all kindsa shit.  Could've been a witch's labyrinth, it was really cool."

"You seem to have good luck with girls, I've mostly run into jerks while wandering. A clever wish, too, maybe it made your power 'luck.' And I think I heard someone mention that place once, it sounds familiar, but I've never been."

"I've definitely had my fair share of jackasses," she grins.  "But I've had really good luck lately, yeah, I don't know what it is.  And, yeah, if you're ever in Wisconsin you should check it out.  Guess you might not have the chance now that you're holding down a territory, though."

"What about you guys?  Raine, you mentioned you used to be a nomad, yeah?  You got any stories?"

Plenty! Most of them seem to revolve around the magical girls she's met, and how they were all creatively terrible, or pretending to be nice but secretly untrustworthy. She glances at Bryce a few times.

(There are a few not-warning-about-trusting-other-people stories thrown in, she got to see a Shakespeare production in San Diego this one time before the local girl drove her out, the zoo there is cool if you're ever in the area, she went to Pride in San Francisco once, there's kinda a semi-truce during the festival itself or at least there used to be, that's probably the best time to go...)

Stories are heard and told and exchanged as dinner proceeds, and it's all great fun.

(Bryce, perhaps conspicuously, declines to share any of her own stories, but is happy to talk about the other girls'.)

Eventually dinner wraps up, and though Raine's fine continuing with stories until it's been dark for a while, at which point she yawns, looks at the clock, and says, "Wow, it's gotten late. Let me get the couch set up for you?"

She decouches.  "Need any help or you got it?"

"I got it! Don't trouble yourself."

"Hey, thanks."  She stands aside for the unfolding of the couch.

And couch-bed can be set up.

While Tobi changes and gets ready for bed in the bathroom.

"Night, guys."

"Night!" And she retreats from the living room (checking subtly if Bryce looks like she wants to talk).

And indeed, as they're both getting ready for bed, Bryce quietly asks, voice not-quite-convincingly casual: "Is it really that awful out there?"

Concerned glance. "It can be. The culture's... Pretty bad."

"Tobi seems okay..." she says, not sounding hopeful.

"She might be, and I'm hoping she is, but most people do, at first."

"Yeah, I guess."
