"You could. I won't come after you. You just have to stay far enough away that I don't accidentally decide you're a threat."

He nods.

"I think I can do that."

He allows himself a moment of daydreaming about Dusk deciding he's a threat.

"- maybe Daisy will sit with you, the first couple times."

"I want to be offended or something, but that's definitely necessary."

"Yeah. You okay with that, Love?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Thanks."

"Sorry for making you babysit."

"It's no trouble."

He looks back up to watch the last of the fading sun.

It's so pretty. Dusk keeps her arm around his shoulder, above the bruises, and when the last bit of glitter fades and the sun finally disappears, she gives him a squeeze.

"...thanks for showing that to me."

He leans his head against her arm.

"You're welcome." She scritches the back of his head again. "Anything you want to do here before we go?"

He takes a moment, and then sighs.

"I wasn't gonna fix my back for a while, but I guess I probably should before we go hiking anywhere."

She chuckles. "We could take the speeder."

Better solution!

"Sounds good to me."

He looks back at Daisy.

"Thanks for cooking. It's been great every time."

"You're welcome." She sounds proud.

"-are you programmed for that?"

"No, I learned it."

"Huh."

"Yeah. It took a while, but if you end up staying, you could learn it too. If you want."

"Yes, m'-" he cuts himself off.

"I'll think about it."

She squeezes Kai-Zi, a little tenser now. "Take as long as you want."
