"Yeah. I don't really think about them that much, though. Especially up here, this's mine."

He nods.

"Yeah. It's probably different when you've been here longer than, like...a day."

"Yeah." She lies back, pats Daisy's knee where the droid is sitting crosslegged behind her. "You'll have some time to get used to it, not that it'll be quite the same."

"Yeah. I guess...if I ever build a place of my own, that's how it'll feel."

"Mmhmm."

"Don't get that from the ship?"

He thinks about it for a minute.

"...I guess I do. But there's only so much I can change it, so it's not...the same."

"Ah. Yeah, if you don't have the engineering background. Can't help much there."

He nods.

"Maybe I'll learn someday. I can't fuck around too much with it in the meantime, though."

"Mmhmm. Worth learning, it sounds like. Most things are, if they make you more free." She gives Daisy another pat and sits up to ruffle his hair.

"Sounds right to me."

He nuzzles the hand in his hair without even thinking about it.

She scritches the back of his head, probably quite a bit more gently than he'd like but the droids are right there, and hums to herself. "I think I'll skip 'saber practice today, or put it off anyway. Head up to see the art as soon as we're done here. Does that sound all right to you, Daisy?"

"Sure."

"Okay." Slightly more intense scritching.

Scritches! He loves this!

He rubs up against Dusk's hand some more and sighs.

"Can't wait to see what you put up there..."

"I bet." The tiniest spark jumps from the tip of her finger to the back of his head - plausibly just static, but how likely is that, really?

...grin.

"That felt like a threat."

"Maybe."

"Most humans are a little more circumspect," Daisy tells Nine.

Dusk twists around to look at him, her hand still in Kai-Zi's hair. "I can stop if it's making you uncomfortable."

Whoops. He shoots the robots an apologetic look. Sorry about all the weird meat-person stuff.

"It's okay. I don't understand, but it doesn't bother me."

"Yeah, all right." Her hand drops to Kai's back between his shoulder blades. "Tell me if it starts to, okay? I do want to know."

"All right."

He hisses a little as she presses on the bruises.

She eases up.

"We do need to talk about my 'saber practice - that's the one situation where I really am dangerous, still, even if I don't want to be."

He can't decide whether he's glad or disappointed. Well...there's time for that when there aren't robots right behind them. Plus, the current subject would probably better explored while he's not having his bruises touched up.

He nods, with some of the usual mixture of apprehension and attraction that comes with Dusk being 'really dangerous'.

"If I'm just...not around, during those times, would I be in the clear?"

"Yup, that's the safest way to do it. Daisy generally just stays in the house."
