It was probably written by a crusty old man who did not know what the word 'fun' means.

Demon that eats hands, demon that eats arms, demon that doesn't eat but likes eviscerating people for fun, probably harmless demon the author had to really contort themself into making sound dangerous, this might actually be a fairy, this is probably mythical...

He has certainly had time to finish skimming through the book. He might need a month or so to read all the tiny little details involving the described demons, perhaps one of them has a face-destroying fetish the author added as an aside?
