"Ummmm... I mean, yeah, I think a lot of people don't do bad things because they'd feel bad about it and also fear being punished, vampires tend to report feeling invincible and like the shackles of society no longer bind them, so..." Shrug.

"It could be just a rationalization."

He shrugs.

"That is all of course moot because I cannot be allowed to become a vampire, in case I'm wrong."

"Yeah, not really a good idea."

He continues eating. Nom.

Om nom!

… And eventually the bell will go to signal the end of lunch. Theo has geography and Sadde has government.

Both classes go as usual, with no new deaths or mysterious occurrences.

Wonderful.

And then they have gym! Theo goes to gym and gets changed and is ready for whatever sport they're doing this time! (Is it basketball? He's still good at basketball, and is happy for them to play it.)

It is not basketball! This week it's volleyball.

The coach is acting kinda weird.

… How weird?

Weird as in, kinda happy and bubbly and not really paying attention to what he's doing. He seems to have decided it was volleyball the moment someone asked him, and hasn't set it up in advance. Various students are doing that for him, since he hasn't.

Okay, so, probably just a little bit sleep deprived. That's fine, then.

… Unless Sadde gives him a meaningful look?

Yep! Meaningful look.

Okay, well, he'll go over to her and say, "Are we sure it's not just sleep deprivation or something?"

"No. Not sure. But this is Sunnydale."

"… Okay, so, if this is anything to do with the librarian, how long do you think we have until his face is torn apart? Any idea?"

"Nope, I don't even know what could possibly have done that to the librarian's face, I want to do some magic around it and figure it out."

(And for once the coach doesn't berate her for not playing.)

"Okay, well, what do you need to do the magic? Is it a thing you can do now while he's not looking, or later when the lesson ends, or do you need to go home and do a thing?"

"Go home and do a thing, where 'do a thing' is basically 'figure out what spell I'd need from a book.'"

"Okay," he says, then looks back at the game. "I should… probably get back to playing."

"Have fun," she shrugs.

So he gets back to playing.

And the game proceeds without any mishaps.

Then it's the end of gym class, and Theo will go get changed.
