Sadde returns home, sleeps, and then goes to school the following day. He arrives and starts looking for Theo, but runs into—
And after that: morgue!
When it's dark. And the morgue's closed. Sadde whispers a word into the lock, and it opens.
Sneaky sneaky to the place where the horribly mangled body is...
Then she gets the herbs she did not burn earlier and whispers another word in Latin. They're consumed by invisible flames, and the smoke and ashes start coursing through the librarian's body.
"What did you find? Just a magical signature thing, or some stuff about the demon?"
"… Nothing special other than, uh, being a magical signature, right? So it still lets us positively identify the demon, right?"
"Right! And then we'll see if the gym teacher has the same magical signature and..." Pause. "I didn't actually plan that far ahead."
"Then we brutalize him because he's already lost to the demon and we're savages? Oh, wait, we don't know the demon works that way."
"We don't even know the gym teacher's actually got anything to do with the demon, it could just be a coincidence."
"Well yes, but anyway, in this scenario, if we've already matched up the teacher to the magical signature presumably they've got something to do with the demon? Or is the magical signature for the species as a whole, or…? And I don't know how precise a magical signature is – could I get a bit of something on me by just being around a demon or what?"
He frowns. "For that matter, do I have a magical signature? I really should have asked this all earlier."
"W-we should maybe be having this conversation elsewhere? Like, somewhere less likely to see vampires?"
"Jolly good idea, let's go. My place? Or yours? Presumably not Willow's due to parents."
"Jolly good?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. "Since when are you British? But yeah, uh, either of those works probably."
