"By fortress of mind I stand, a light in the darkness!" she says, pointing at nothing in particular out the window.

Her magic rises up in a great surge as she glows! Her costume spills forth from nowhere, replacing her old clothes bit by bit with fancier, shinier fabric loaded with accoutrements and extra bits! She feels suddenly vastly more capable. She could do a cartwheel. She could pick up the couch with ease. She could lash out with bolts of magic, or use any of her minor powers- Absolute Direction is just begging for a target.

There's a few minds around. Puchuu, which 'looks' small and nimble and slightly alien. Charlie in the other room, instantly recognizable as Charlie despite not really having... Distinct features per se at this level of perception. One of her neighbors. Faint hazy hints of others, further away.

"Congratulations, Miss Bella!" 

Can you hear this? (The answer will depend on whether she's raised instinctive mental shields or not)

I can hear you! she says, twirling and giggling.

The thing about monsters is that they either hide really well or pop up suddenly, so I don't have anything just waiting for you to go fight...

There might be a pest in the Overworld someone wants dealt with, one that's not super dangerous just annoying, but easier to hire a magical girl to deal with than deal with themselves. That happens sometimes. I'll ask around. May I ride on your shoulder?

Sure. She dials Tanya.

Puchuu leaps and flaps its intangible wings once with a light puff of pink-purple sparkles. Then it settles on her shoulder, feeling like it weighs almost nothing at all.

First ring: "Tanya speaking. Bella, right, it's your number at least?"

"It's me! I'm magical now! I was slightly taken aback by needing a slogan but I guess I have no excuse."

"Hah. Mine's kind of... Violent. I didn't tell you the story, but a Puchuu found me literally right as an Abyssal demon was clawing at my front door?"

"Wow, timing needs work."

"A contributing factor to my allegation of suspicious patterns.

I take it you want a practice target?"

"Wouldn't hurt. Apparently the reason a psychic was needed was there's a vampire."

"I don't keep pet monsters or anything but I can introduce you to Saeko. She might give you a tip on something small, probably with your payment being the info and chance to hit something safeishly while she pockets the actual fee."

"Sounds worth doing. Saeko?"

"Kitsune I mentioned. Helpfully obsessed with accumulating magic coins and owed favors. A good contact!"

"She have a phone number?"

"She does not. She's got an Overworld address."

"Well, I guess I can try my fancy new navigation power then."

"That's the spirit! I'm guessing it's like thirty miles in the Overworld by A.D. South of Tacoma. Shortcuts are pretty short in there. You can bring bikes in."
