He hugs her. "I love you. And I think I'll love Maurice, soon."

She permits this.

"I'm sorry about this. I know what if feels like being away from someone you care about."

<I believe you are mistakenly extrapolating from your own emotions.>

She takes Levi's hand. "If you need me, child, I can be here in a heartbeat. Or whatever it is that sustains you."

<I understand.>

And the two are gone.

And she watches Maurice.

"You really do love your brother, don't you?" asks Mary.

<That would be the most accurate comparison.>

"You barely know our son. Why him?"

<He makes the mosaic beautiful.>

"What mosaic?"

<Of the future. I see all possible futures. It's beautiful. And the mosaic around him is most beautiful of all.>

Siobhan smiles, wanly. "I'm not sure how I feel about this. I suppose the future would be beautiful with Maurice in it."

<It is most beautiful when he is happy.>
