"--Right, I didn't tell you what the thing is. Bella, from Atlanta, who was in an alliance with Aadhya who made stuff out of mal bits? She ended up in an alternate universe and brought really cool magic home. And one of the kinds of cool magic is that if you show them a picture of a place they can make a portal there apparently."

"Unsure if parents want a portal in our house."

"--Is that an actual objection or is it that you're very sure this is a prank and not inclined to humor me. I can't really object if it's the latter, this is super implausible."

"Portals are terribly high traffic! It is most likely a prank but if it is not we are not a train station!"

"...What happened at my house was that the portal opened, I stepped through, and it closed? I don't get the impression that these are permanent installations."

"Oh! In that case just one moment." And presently there is a picture of the rosebushes in the front of the Miriti home.

Portal open. 

"Hi Nia!" Lucy chirps through the portal. 

"- hi Lucy! Do I go over there now? How will I go home again after? My phone does not work well if it is not home on the range."

"I can open a new portal at any time." 

"Well then, I will very quick send my parents a note. They will think I have gone to be with my boyfriends but this way they cannot say I did not tell them otherwise." She taps out a quick text and then traipses across. She's still wearing her dusk-sky graduation outfit Wilbur made her, with the moon on the front of her shoulder, but she's washed off her Euploea poison-butterfly spots.

"You both look way snazzier than Bella's group did when they showed up." 

"Wilbur's affinity is thread! These are magic clothes. Also Ennis's affinity is cosmetics but Nia appears to have washed hers off." 

"Itchy," she explains. "My magic clothes are exceeding lovely."

"They are! --Hi, I'm Jaromira Grigori, alternate-universe doppelganger of Jaromira Kozlov from Atlanta."

Jaromira Kozlov from Atlanta waves a little to demonstrate that she is here and Jaromira Grigori is not just her pretending. 

"This is not a have to shoot one of them situation, no?"

"It is not! Although I suppose those two would be fine if it were," she gestures at Eliza and Johann, "being doppelgangers of Chicago's doomed final year."

"I feel so ripped off that there isn't an obvious one of me."

"Well, Lucy's doppelganger is significantly older than Katarzyna and I are, despite the fact that Kanimir and his sister are in the same year as this Lucy, so maybe you do have a doppelganger but she hasn't awakened yet."
