On Sunday after lunch, when the Shanghai crew is gathering up to head to the reading room, Masozi finally manages to actually spot Lan Xichen not already busy and engrossed in some other conversation, in a context where it doesn't feel deeply weird or like he's getting in the way to say the thing he's been meaning to say.
...The thing he's been meaning to say is that he probably has a crush? Or at least he probably has two-thirds of the things on the list and he's trying to figure out if that's definitely a crush? And this is probably important information for Lan Xichen to have as the leader of Shanghai, because he needs to know about everyone's feelings in order to make sure they don't cause problems, even though Masozi intends to reassure him that he's going to try really really hard not to let his feelings cause problems because that would be stupid.
- he is not saying this. Somehow it feels completely and utterly impossible to say this when Wei Wuxian is right there across the table, albeit not paying any attention.
He swallows. Whyyyyyy is this hard there's no reason for it to be hard or scary. "Lan Xichen? Can I - talk to you, during work period...?"
