"Oh, I can't touch things very much but I can a little, usually."

"He says he can't touch things very much but he can a little, usually. —oh, was this because he turned the music on?"

"You can turn it off again if you want."

"He says you can turn it off again if you want."

"Oh, no, I'm fine, I was just confused. Since I don't really know, uh. Things. About ghosts."

"Can you tell him that I think he was right about me being murderous and that I didn't have reason to think my parents were going to finish the job.  —Uh, don't make it sound like I'm going to probably kill him, though, obviously."

Jake stares at Jeremy. "No."

"Jake.  I murdered my parents, I did in fact murder my parents, however sympathetic my reasons—might have been, and then I also murdered you.  You're going to either mislead him or burn your credibility if you correct him for calling me murderous.  And the stuff about my mom considering killing me—first off, they decided against it and second I didn't know anything about that until well after we were all dead!  So, I didn't have a good reason to believe that; I only had the hospitalization and the ritual as reasons, and you—you can say those were sympathetic, whatever, but the other one is just wrong.  It's not true."

Every objection Jake can think of isn't something he wants to say to Jeremy in front of Oliver so after a couple more seconds of staring he says, between gritted teeth, "Jeremy wants me to tell you that I was wrong that he had good reason to believe his parents were going to finish the job. Of killing him, that is. All he had as reasons to kill them was the hospitalisation after they pushed him down the stairs and the ritual that would make him more powerful. He also says that this means he is in fact murderous and I was wrong to say otherwise."

Slooooow blink. "Um. Are you—Jeremy, I mean—do you—like killing people?"

"Of course he doesn't!" says Jake, before glaring at Jeremy as if to dare him to contradict Jake.

He doesn't!  "No, it was awful."

"He says 'No, it was awful.'"

"Do you have plans to kill more people?"

"...If someone died in front of me and I had the ability, I would resurrect that person.  If someone really wanted to be able to see me, and was planning to die to do it—I don't see how I could really help that go smoothly and painlessly, over other humans, but if it seemed like I could I would try.  If I couldn't stop them.  Or bring myself to."

He repeats that verbatim.

"Then by the power vested in me as a random teenager I hereby pronounce you not a murderous ghost."

...Jake looks very smug.

"I don't mind the assessment now that he has the facts."

"He says he doesn't mind the assessment now that you have the facts."

These two need therapy. Couples therapy? Are they a couple? There's a really weird vibe between these two that Oliver is not qualified to analyse.

He's also burning with questions about magic and ghosts and has no idea how to begin asking them. Because of the weird vibe. He feels like he should, like, probably come back some other time, after they've dealt with whatever it is they need to deal with.

Then again, given the demonstrated tactics chosen by both of them to deal with whatever it is they need to deal with...
