He's been at the last fort on the Mendevian side of the border for a day and a half when one of the local soldiers finds him. "Ser, um, Aemine?" He salutes a bit tentatively. "That, uh, Chelish patrol with the cleric is on its way in, did you want to-" His expression makes it clear he's not sure why he'd want to do anything with the Chelish troops if he wasn't ordered to.
He notices the hesitation – that's as much as a question, from Ferrer, and he thinks he can guess what question it is.
"Ah, it's fine, really. Just got lectured about being too friendly with the Learned and giving people ideas, and now I've gotta talk to her about it, and, well... I'd as soon not watch her at her books for half an hour while I think about it, first."
"...Yeah."
He looks like what Ferrer's doing is already making him feel quite a lot better.
He nods, settles the bag on his shoulder, and leads the way.
Ferrer's efficient but gentle with the horses, murmuring quietly to them as he checks them over (his and Cambra's are called Ninny and Bearcat, apparently, although all three harnesses just have strings of numbers).
(Oh, that's good to watch. Marcus does his share of the work, of course, but part of his attention the whole time is on just how comfortable Ferrer looks here.)
And the third horse is Apple, he remembers that.
"... Bearcat?"
Shrug. "I didn't name him. Just picked it up somewhere along." He's clearly experienced, steady and calm as he goes through the familiar routine.
