Starting to get a bit suspicious, he does so.

Apparently someone used his phone to text Sadde about Theo's birthday, when the former remembered Theo had mentioned his birthday would be in two weeks.

Oh, had they. Luckily, Theo's not particularly annoyed about it. It was for a good reason, of course.

Doing anything special today?

Getting cake and having a takeaway.

I don't have work today...

Sadde, would you like to come over and have cake later today?

Why, yes, so nice of you to invite me! When should I show up?

A few hours, maybe? We haven't got it yet.

The cake? We could go pick it up.

Oh, that's actually a really good idea! Meet at mine and go from there?

Okay! Be there in a bit.

So Theo goes downstairs and plays on his phone, waiting for Sadde to arrive.

Ding dong.

The door is opened.

"Hey!"

"Hiya! Let's go cakeward?" Whisper: "Is Kero coming?"

"Sure!" he says, and then quieter: "I haven't told him yet, why?"

"What do you think he'll think of getting cake?"

"I expect it'll be something along the lines of 'ooh, I have such a sweet tooth, get me a whole extra cake!'"

"I'm sure he won't actually phrase it like that."

"I guess we can let him know that we're getting some, then? Maybe we'll have to get extra."

"Probably a good idea! Is your dad home?"

"Yeah – he's in the kitchen at the minute. He knows we're getting cake at some point, though."
