This once. Next time, she'll have to ask Gleam. She prefers to be the one who gets away with breaking the rules under Elathea's stern gaze.

Tiny giggle.

"I'll take that under advisement," she says, very solemnly (and very carefully pronouncing 'advisement').

"Very good."

Time to go raid the kitchens.

For all the cookies! (Okay, only some of the cookies, there's a lot here.)

A reasonable quantity of cookies. Not enough to make a young girl sick, say.

She knows how not to make herself sick. Definitely.

Elathea won't have to intervene to adjust the quantity, then.

She actually doesn't, amazingly enough. Micqui is a very restrained six year old.

Micqui gathers a sensible number of cookies - exactly three smallish ones - and a cup of milk, and even puts the cookies on a plate and takes them to a table to eat.

Elathea will take a single cookie and join her.

She's quiet while she eats, taking neat little bites and very methodologically switching with milk every third bite. She sets cookie, plate, and cup down and makes sure she's swallowed before saying anything, even to answer questions, but is mostly just...

Behaving in the way a lot of the Deliberative would think a good child acts.

Hm. Something to mention to Gleam, perhaps.

Elathea will try to be just.. friendly, for now.

She... Relaxes a tiny bit from her good child act by the time she's finished, but not very much.

"Thank you," she says, quietly.

"You're quite welcome."

Small smile.

Bedtime?

Just about, yes.

Goodnight.

Good night.

Elathea will return to Gleam and their natural children.

She's gotten them settled, fed and asleep, and is watching them with a drawn look on her face.

"Hey," she says, very quietly, when Elathea enters. "Is Micqui holding up okay?"

"I'm not sure. We built a blanket fort and she seemed to enjoy that. But she was sad before and... stilted, afterwards. "

"...I'm really concerned about her," she says, softly.

"Yes. You should spend some time with her. She would, I think, benefit from a... non-central perspective."

Lean. "Yeah, and - I've dealt with kids going through tough stuff before."

"She is strong, though."

Small smile. "Yeah. Made of tough stuff." Kiss.

"We should get to sleep, too. Get some shut eye before Layla gets hungry again."

(Samira gets hungry at about the same rate, of course, but Layla's the one who likes to do her best to wake up the entire manse about this.)

"Always thinking, my wife. Good night."
