"I wouldn't know what else to do with it," she demurs. "I expect I'm going to be buried in produce soon, it'd be nice for everything to find loving homes to be eaten instead of sitting sadly in my fridge."

"I don't like gardening very much."

Alas. And this conversation was about to have her comment on how self-aware he seemed. Still, she's still pretty sure he's above average for keeping track of what is going on and having a conversation that logically flows instead of being broken up into disparate parts.

"I do! But it's not for everyone. And this way I have people to send things to. What hobbies do you like?"

"I'm a foodie, I really like making and eating nice food."

"Oh cool! And vampires can eat all of the same things the rest of us can, or do you make only special plasma dishes?"

"We can eat anything humans can. Well, most of us can. It doesn't taste as nice, though, and doesn't nourish us. But it can complement the plasma."

"That sounds nice. Most vampires can eat human food, though? What are the exceptions?"

Is it garlic. It might be garlic.

"Some vampires can't eat at all because their digestive systems are atrophied."

"Oh. How does that happen?"

"I think just spending too long without eating normal things."

"Ah, that makes sense. Being a vampire seems pretty nice, though - I am probably going to try to become a fairy, because flight seems really cool."

"That sounds cool. Some vampires can turn into bats."

"Awwwww!! Bats are adorable, and flying as one would be great. Are you able to turn into a bat?"

"I'm not, I never wanted to."

"Fair. I'd want to just hang out as a bat sometimes, I think. Maybe sit regally on my friend's shoulders while they do stuff."

"Oh yeah you could do that. I hadn't thought of it."

"It'd be fun! Between that and being able to work up to being able to stand sunlight, you're persuading me a bit on vampirism. What's becoming a vampire like?"

"It was kind of unpleasant. A vampire has to drink your blood and then you have to drink theirs and then you spend like a day and a half feeling ill and then you become a vampire and you spend another day feeling ill. But then it's good."

"Straightforward, though! The fairy process involves finding a special seedling and helping it grow instead. I spent all afternoon looking for one and didn't find it. Do you mind if I keep you in mind in case I give up trying to become a fairy in favor of vampirism?"

"Sure! Can we exchange phone numbers?"

"Yeah!" Phone number!

Cool! Then she'll be happy to just hang out and chat for a bit; today has been very task oriented, it's kind of nice to not be systematically working towards her overarching goals.

There's suddenly a small commotion over there.

Um? What kind of commotion?? Is everyone okay over there?
