"Oh no... we're here."
And she screams when a lightning bolt hits a tower less than three hundred metres from where they're standing.
"Oh." Frown. "How do you know?"
"Tromell told us."
Nod.
Waiting waiting waiting.
Lots and lots of waiting.
But eventually the door opens and: "Ah, Lady Kaede."
"Maester Seymour," she says, doing the sign of the fayth.
The others do the same.
(With perhaps an exception.)
(Or two.)
(Or three. Theo feels weird doing that.)
"Have you reconsidered my request?"
"Answer's still no, sorry," she says, straightening up.
"Hello again," says Theo.
He glances at Theo and inclines his head in acknowledgement, then looks at Kaede again.
"If you'll excuse me, then, Lady Kaede, I have matters to attend to."
"Wait, weren't we—?"
"Hmm?"
"– I'm sure it's nothing we need to get into just now."
He blinks slowly and looks at Kaede.
Shrug.
"Very well. Lady Summoner, guardians."
Off he goes.
"Well that went wonderfully," sighs Theo.
"Better than it could have."
"Yes, it didn't end in even an attack." Shrug. "Should we get going, then?"
"Yeah, let's."
Into the chamber.
