"Oh no... we're here."
And she screams when a lightning bolt hits a tower less than three hundred metres from where they're standing.
"Can it still freeze? I'm wondering if there's an… equivalent protection against mundane things, like waterproofing."
"How long do those spells usually last? And can it be done on clothing?"
"A while, but they can only take one hit, then you have to cast them again. The permanent version is harder."
Nod. "Could be useful, anyway, at least to trade. Some people'd probably like fireproof items."
"Yeah," he says. "I assume people here already have fireproof things."
"I was wondering if I could get a copy of my phone, basically, in case something damages this one, and – nondestructive as in 'so I can have two of them' instead of 'so I can just have one that works and a hunk of metal'."
"… Some magical way for me to get a super good impression of the structure of it in my head?"
"No, more, implant knowledge of the structure about it – but also fix it in place, if possible. Main limit on me being able to make it is that I don't have a good enough picture of the fine structure."
"Oh, fun, this place." Sigh. "I flew over it last time – anything in particular I should watch out for?"
