They wake up lying on the ground.
Outdoors.
It's a bright, clear day.
Their body feels different.
Who's in front?
Warm, eager curiosity, with a side of playful smirk? Okay feels like it's Sable.
"...Speaking of things we could share with the worlds we're visiting. Are we going to share the persines?"
"Oh! That's a good question! They're a really nice food source that could be spread around, but I don't know if they depend on the Skyblock to grow, and if they spread any exotic physics with them."
She hums curiously as she opens the app and checks.
It reports "ontologically self-reinforcing quick-growing fruit."
"Huh, yeah, but a very narrow one. Why didn't it detect 'em earlier?"
She pokes a bit more at the app, and discovers a range slider that defaulted to five meters.
"Aha!"
Momo peers at the description. "Well, that probably can't cause too much trouble in most places. I suppose we should keep some seeds ready."
"Yeah. Heroes and legends and fairy tales and mythological creatures. Like there were constellations for each of the Maidens, and for the Great King, and the Witch-Queen, and the Builder, and oh wow I'm just now realizing how many of those are based on Headmaster Ozpin, Salem, and their daughters. What wasn't based on them? Well. The Two Brothers, the Warrior in the Woods, the Hunter's Children, and more. These definitely don't resemble any of them, or any from Earth."
Momo is not the sort of person who resorts to expletives. But if she were, her thoughts could have been encapsulated by a single 'Fuck,' as she realizes.
'I don't know if there's anyone out there, listening. But if someone is... Please. Please don't see them parted like this.'
A tear rolls down her cheek as she squeezes into Momo's arms, hugging tightly.
"Thanks," she murmurs.
"...I have to hope, I think, that there will be a way to reunite you and your sister. You... You shouldn't be parted like this."
"I mean, system movement is a thing, and this brain feels… bigger than what we're used to, more room and more processing, but we don't have any references, we don't have any way to be careful, so I'm scared to try."
"...I can understand that. But the only way to succeed is to try. I'm not saying you should just suddenly rush into this, if you think you could better arm yourselves for the task - but if you do not try, you can only fail. And... If you're that scared of doing something wrong, doesn't that mean that you already know what right looks like?"
"Maybe it does. Dunno."
She's running out of words, though. She'll just hug Momo some more.
Eventually, she kisses Momo's cheek and unhugs.
"I should probably wash up for bed."
She goes to fetch PJs and heads for the shower.
"It seems about time. I'll change while you're in there."
And then, probably, they will sleep.
Soon enough, Ruby comes out wearing PJs, brushes her teeth, and then joins Momo in the tent. It's bedtime.
