Marin intends to enter the bridge. It's a procedure she's implemented thousands of times before; leaving Nymet requires using the bridge, and Marin Pathfinder of Nymet could not have survived cooped up in a single innangarð for her entire life. It's not an exaggeration to say that she has spent more of her life in the bridges than in any innangarð. She knows how to operate them: entry, traversal, and exit. It should take a moment's thought to conclude her journey. Instead, as her staff strikes the earth, the bridge opens...somewhere else. She's standing on a bridge- an ordinary bridge, one made from materials and not the raw power of the gods- in an unfamiliar innangarð, with no sign of the bridge she just exited behind her.
Back to the grav ring.
"It feels like a complete transportation. I wonder how they manage it."
"I think it's like the screens on computers but somehow projected by..." Syl trails off as the wind picks up. "A tornado. I don't think we have time to get to the shelters. Lie down on the grav plate it's our best chance." Syl puts this into practice.
The wind gets quite intense but the grav plate is sufficient to keep them anchored and then everything goes quiet. They hang for a short while above the clouds above the air peering out into forever.
And then they're falling. They hit the water and it washes up over them trying to pull the Staff from Marin's fingers but if she's holding tight enough she should be able to keep hold.
Marin can hold tight. If her own strength might not be enough, she won't leave it up to that. She casts, enhancing her own strength for a short period of time. Her grip will be tight enough, and she'll be better able to swim to safety, if need be. She looks for Syl.
"That was amazing. If we ever verify that the time loop is going to last I want to do that a few more times."
"It was certainly...exciting."
They're probably nearly out of time. Presumably there is no sign of the most recent tablet?
The tablet is nowhere to be seen. "I'm gonna check the time ring quickly and then we should use the tablet you found."
"I may have lost it when the tornado hit."
There's no harm in trying to locate it: she's gotten a good look at it, so if it's within a few hundred feet, she can track it. Marin casts the spell while Syl checks the time ring.
No luck.
"16 minutes 20 seconds. If you can't find the tablet we can always come back another time. We know where it will be now so it should be a quick trip."
"That's a fair point. Let's explore down here. I'd rather not make this trip more than once, until we're sure we've eliminated the threat."
Is there anything interesting they can see from this vantage point, that might not have been visible from their previous position?
"We could try to look at the Northern tower. It's inside the massive permanent tornado at the north pole." Indeed there is a massive tornado visible rather close by. "There are also other islands down here. What threat do you mean though?"
