Van is just finishing up the Heralds' obstacle course with Yfandes; he sees her, but maintains his focus and only stops and waves once they're done. 

She checks to see how he's doing, and waves back when he waves at her.

Vanyel and Yfandes are pretty good! It's clearly something they've practiced a lot, and Vanyel is smiling, colour in his cheeks, as Yfandes trots over and he slips down easily from the saddle. :Deskyl, it's really good to see you:

Catching up on new reading material, failing to teach his lessons due to some stupid comment in the hallway reminding him of - things - and probably driving Lancir up the wall at their most recent session, because he can't seem to stop being a mess. :Er, not really: 

:That's all right, it's good to have quiet times too. I haven't been doing very much either, but making some plans, it looks like I'm going to be staying a while.:

Vanyel strokes Yfandes' neck as she wanders up behind him. He isn't really sure what Deskyl wants out of this conversation - whether it's anything more than just briefly chatting before they both go on their way. It's making him feel tense. 

:That'll be interesting. I don't know enough about your magic to even guess what'll make sense to do with it that way.:

:I think she can use it to purify some substances that she does alchemy with: Vanyel offers. 

:That could come in handy, yeah. I don't know much chemistry but we might come up with something. I was thinking more the other way, though, mechanical tools that you can operate with magic.:

:Oh, that's interesting too! You'd still need a mage to use it, but maybe there are ways to make the same amount of effort go further? So mage-work is less tiring: 

"Mmhmm." :Or things you can do that way that you otherwise couldn't do at all. My lightsaber is like that - you have to have telekinesis to use a 'saber safely, but the Force can't make a blade like that. You might be able to do something with - teleportation, maybe? I dunno, I haven't had much time to think about it.:
