"How strategic were the others?"

"Somewhat. Stalking, clearing the kitchen of staff, that kind of thing."

"Okay."

"I don't know if most of the armed factions in Kenton would stop her if she tried something in town. Some might help her. It would depend on what she was trying."

"Well, what she'd be trying would be attacking Eefa but there are probably lots of very unsuspicious looking plausible steps toward that."

"If she killed other unrelated people it would be more likely to cause people to restrain her. Also if she did something at Elysium every faction would be against her. The market isn't as safe, but people don't like violence there. The rangers guardhouse on the outskirts of town would probably be safe so long as there's a few rangers there - even without Lia around they'd defend a kid. If Kassy or I were around people would protect you two, I think."

"-if it were better known that you were bullet proof and dangerous that would help with making people less likely to take her side, if that comes up."

"Is there some kind of demo I could be doing?"

"You could go to one of the abandoned houses when other people are around and doing target practice - thursday evenings are popular."

"I can cover your shifts for managing the market if you'd like."

"That might become necessary at some point but today's been fine."

"Should I try asking Dragon if she's mysteriously interested in Eefa?"

"I'm sort of tempted to write her a letter about it, which is probably at least as dubious an idea, but - unless there's a remarkably finite set of wolves in the world this isn't sustainable, and one slightly rational-seeming wolf it'd be expensive to get into a drag-out fight with anyway might be a good chance to learn what's up -"

"You probably have more of an idea what to put in a letter than I do of what to ask her. She is normally very reasonable, I think."

Eefa is giving Pelape a look.

"Yes, kiddo?"

Eefa looks down. She can ask later.

"Anything else relevant I should know?"

"I don't think so."

"Okay. - what's the best way to get her a letter."

"Stall 35C is reliable for that sort of odd job around town. Or I can deliver it."

"You should maybe have a non-odd-jobs postal service... a conversation for another time. I'll at least start with them."

"The rangers do intercity messages sometimes - yeah."

Sigh. "Thanks."
