"But would they be anywhere near as good at it as you," she says seriously.  "Would they have already made friends with a friendly demon within days of learning about their magical destiny?"

"Hopefully their need for redemption will carry them through. That's practically plot armor, right there."

She giggles again.  "Well, I'm glad we don't have to rely on just that."

" - we, uh, should probably get going, if you don't want to miss the late bus, I guess."

"Yeah, let's."

"I was gonna get a ride home with my parents, so - see you tomorrow?"

"See you then!"

Kaylee departs.

Tag catches up with Nausicaa on the late bus.  "Hey."

"Hey! Something up?"

"Your friend Gaara found me after school a couple days ago, mentioned something about a Hellmouth.  Did that ever come up when you were talking with Giles?"

"Con-something of magic? There's one in Sunnydale. Not a lot of going into it though."

He nods.  "That's about what Gaara said too.  Attracts lots of - demons and supernatural shit.  So their stories match that far."

"Anything where they don't?"

"Nothing I can remember.  - I gotta start taking notes."

" - You know, I've been thinking.  If we get in touch with some, you know, non-homicidal demons, and they also think vampires are always evil, that'd be a point in favor of Giles's story.  Do you know what the deal is with the other sand demons?"

"Maybe. And talking to Gaara - sounded like they're a really military strong guy culture, and they don't like her because she's part some kind of blood demon, I think through her mom. She doesn't know which but there's some kind of prejudice going on there."

He nods.  "Maybe not the best alternate source then."

"I can make a point of looking, but - the thing about demons hanging around here being mostly aggressive ones might bear out... Though I guess if it's easy to go back and forth here you might also get, like, frat bro demons hitting the nightlife. Or tourists."

"Tourist demons.  Well, if you figure out a way to identify demonic nightlife, let me know."

"Might be a fun challenge. Get a good fake ID, scope out some clubs..."

"I'd want to figure out ways to identify human-passing demons first.  Maybe look through Giles's private library for information on the friendly ones."

"Oh, smart."

"...I could probably get us some fake IDs, though, if phase one goes well."

"Ooooooh. Didn't know you had a wild side."

He shrugs one shoulder.  "I know some people.  I'm gonna preemptively vote against using them to go out drinking for shits and giggles, for the record."

"I'll be responsible. Thanks, though."
