"Tyler," he responds. Then, to the other person at the table: "And – you were… Bryce?"

"Brian."

"We were actually waiting for Danny, until he decided to sit with some of his nerd friends." 

"Nerd friends," repeats Tyler, looking in that direction. "Are they that bad?"

"Not bad. Some of them are socially awkward, some aren't. They're all into programming and hacking and computer stuff, which is the main thing. And some of them are awkward." 

"He hangs out with them a lot, since last spring." 

"I don't think I've met them yet, is all."

He shrugs.

"I thought he mostly hung out with Lydia."

"Sometimes, yeah. Not when she's with Argent and McCall."

"– Who are those again? I didn't catch everyone's surnames."

"Scott McCall: lacrosse captain, fluffy hair, dopey smile, not dating the cop's kid, apparently. I think he's Spanish or Native American maybe both? Allison Argent: kind of scary, most of her family died last year. She's white, I think her mom immigrated from France. They dated, until Lydia and Jackson did something, and then they had a messy breakup that took a couple of months."

"He didn't actually ask for the entire rumor mill thrown at him."

"If you want a different answer, ask someone else."

"– Uh, how did Allison's family –?"

"Suicide, suicide, cancer."

"...We should probably talk about something else."

"Yeah."

"Did you and Danny have a good time last night?"

"Yeah," he nods. "It was fun, got to experience the local scene a bit."

"So you weren't together? Obviously you went together, but you're not seeing him?"

"… No?"

"Good to know."

He glances at Danny.

"Is everyone into guys now? Was there a memo?"

"Didn't you hear? It's the new fashion."

"Right. You guys doing anything tonight?"
