"Gotta agree with Scott here."

"Fine, fine, gang up on me, I probably deserve it. Anyway, scale of one to ten, how attractive am I?"

Tyler turns to face him and looks him over.

… It is quite an intense look-over.

Then he shrugs and says, "More than a five."

"...huh. Thanks."

"I told you, but you never listen."

"Okay, but Danny-"

"Danny is friends with Jackson, I don't think his judgment is worth much."

"I mean, I have an actual number if you want it, but if you're happy with 'more than five' then I can leave it at that."

"'More than five' is fine, it's already getting to his head."

"What about Scott?"

"Also more than five? Quite a lot of people are more than five."

"A lot meaning half, right? So I'm above average. And anyway, I wanted the actual number for Scott."

"A lot meaning half," he agrees. "And – I'm sort of divided. Plus he might not want to hear."

"I don't mind, but you probably shouldn't. Stiles won't like it either way."

Shrug. "More than five, then."

"I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have a breakdown because he's rating you."

"If he rates me higher than you, you'll get insecure about it, act weird around him, and start sniping at me. If he rates me lower than you, you'll get mad about it, start sniping at him, and act weird around me."

"Fiiine, I won't ask cute boys to rate us."

"They can rate you all they want."

He focuses on the textbook.

Tyler raises an eyebrow. "Do you two –?"

"Skateboard? Hate kittens? Wonder if we'll ever survive high school?"

"… I mean, I'm sort of curious about all of that, but no, I was wondering if you were a pair."

"A pair."

Scott looks up.

"No, we aren't."

"Should I rephrase the question to 'are you two a couple' to make it less ambiguous, then?"
