The Space Arda Sauron had a deadman's switch that Cam was lucky to catch in time and it required Vala help to clean up completely, so Loki checked before killing the Shadow instances of Melkor and Sauron, but tipped them off enough that they ran off. We think they're one or possibly two hops from Shadow. Shadow's next to Materia, so random hopping from there isn't safe; Joy landing near Melkor is not safe even if he's somewhere otherwise stable, and he might be in Materia or one of its accessory worlds."

<And wizardry does cross-dimensional summoning but you do not especially want to summon a Melkor and he could plausibly leave again anyway?>

"Yep. And if he's in a Materia accessory world rather than Materia proper, we don't have a non-Materia vantage point from which to do that anyway."

<Does conjuring fail to work on people within Materia even if the conjurer is not in Materia?>

"Preliminary results indicate that Cam can conjure things that are in Materia, although it's entirely possible that it's one of those things Materia is permitting to work until it gets mad, or permitting to work inconsistently - his powers were weirdly restricted while he was stuck in Materia."

<Does conjuring for the world Melkor is in get you anything?>

"Doesn't work that way around, he has to know what worlds he's quantifying over - he can do 'all known' but not 'all'. Also Melkors are not known for their prolific writings, conjuring for Ainur per se gets nothing because they're not matter and don't have to be using physical bodies - Cam has tried to get conjurations of the physical bodies, which he can do, over various worlds, but we don't know what the negative result means, it could be 'not there' or 'not using physical bodies' or 'Materia's fucking with us' or something else."
