"Do you want one anyway?"

Yes.

"No, thank you."

Kaleva is very very skeptical.

"Can we come in?"

Pause.

"If you want to."

"You locked the door."

So he did.

He reaches up and unlocks it.

Kaleva enters, takes one look at Chen's face, and hugs him.

He should push Kaleva away. It would be better for both of them, in the end.

He is a deeply weak and selfish person, so he melts into the hug instead.

There isn't really enough room for all three of them in here without touching; he winds up curled up against the two of them.

If that sad face is a "I'm going to nobly report my friends to Fairy Godmother and get them punished for being gay" face, Kaleva is going to SERIOUSLY regret this hug.

He stays quiet because he is a terrible liar.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

The answer is obviously no, but asking won't hurt.

"Not especially." He's still melted into Kaleva. "I shouldn't be near you. I'm sorry."

He sounds miserable. Way more miserable than generally accompanies moralistic judgement.

"Because you don't want to be around us now that you know that, or for some other reason?" Sasha says, before Kaleva has a chance to react.

"Because I don't want to hurt you," he says without thinking. Sasha grew up on the Isle of the Lost and is probably fairly inured to the harm that comes from being around bad people, but he's been hurt enough by this, Chen shouldn't hurt him more.

Okay, apparently they're not pretending not to be dating. Good to know.

"How... are you going to hurt us?"

"Because now that you know being gay is a thing you've realized you are that, or for some other reason?" Sasha says, when Chen doesn't respond.

Chen curls in on himself.

That's enough of an answer. Sasha shifts so there are fewer gaps between them, puts his head on Chen's shoulder. "You know we are too, right?"

Kaleva is not sure what to say that would be comforting. "It's true that being gay makes you evil, but then you get to kiss Sasha, which is just so much better than not being evil" is unlikely to be a sentiment Chen will find appealing.

He settles on, "it's okay."

Chen looks deeply unconvinced.

"Evil people don't lock themselves in shower stalls to panic about whether they're going to hurt their friends by being near them — don't look at me like that, I grew up on an island with Cruella deVil, I am almost certainly the local expert on what evil people do and don't do, and they don't do that."

He does laugh, a little bit. It's shaky but it's there.

"If you're evil," Kaleva says, "then I'm evil, because I love Sasha."

He looks like he's about to object to that.

He stops himself before he can actually say anything, and holds Kaleva closer instead.

"So it doesn't make any sense to try to stay away from me because you're gay and you're afraid that will hurt me somehow, because I'm also gay and I definitely have to stay near me."
