Kimahri tries to sleep, but the loss of his people weighs heavy on him. He drifts in and out, dreaming of screams.

No-one really gets a peaceful night. (This close to Zanarkand, who could? Especially with everything that's happened over the last day.)

Auron stirs everyone once the sunrise turns the world golden.

Yuna shivers, but not from cold. So close to her final destination, she can feel the anticipation building in her, like a wave.

Lulu wraps an arm around her.

Anri stays close as well.

Aten is still not entirely calm, but he looks a little better than he did.

"We'll protect you, Aten. Promise."

"I- yes." (He doesn't sound too sure.)

"I suppose there's no point in delaying any further."

"Let's go."

Auron leads the way.

And he will be followed.

The path cuts through the ruins, bodies of summoners and guardians lying on either side. Some rise to fight them, screaming their injustice, that they should die and others live.

Yuna sends each one dutifully, biting her lip to stop tears.

Anri helps where ey can - ey might have left eir pilgrimmage, but ey's still a summoner, still knows how to perform the sending.

Yuna matches her steps to Anri's.

Lulu smiles sadly. They make a beautiful duo, but the purpose is still terrible. She wishes she could speak to Tidus one more time, tell him that he was right. 

Beautiful and terrible.

Be that as it may, it has to be done.

A large structure is their goal, pyreflies dancing around it in dizzying waves.

And inside, her.

Aten is somehow shaking, despite being a tiny ball of flames, clearly terrified.

"My son, my son. Come home to me, at last."

Masquerade steps forwards, between Yunalesca and Aten. "Come to end you."

"Aten? Masque?"

-no. Nonono.

Aten doesn't know how to stop this, doesn't know how to get her out of his head.
