He tries to control his flinch because it will annoy the Maitimo, the Maitimo will probably decide to train him out of it - 

"Hi." My father had him assassinated, there was a civil war, he could say. And this world's Maitimo would kill this world's version of Nolofinwë, preemptively, would thank him later for the tip - "he charged Angband, got killed."

"I don't think I need to warn him not to do that."

"It's a pity we don't have a way to resurrect this kind of Elf but at least on a practical level we're only missing the latest in swords."

It is not a pity Fëanáro's dead. At least Maitimo's only strategically ruthless. "Yes, we sound very wholly outclassed."

He stares at Findekáno rather intently. "Chip-based telepathy has the same interface for public and private thoughts, I think we should all be safe, but thank you for the advisory anyway. Bar'll give you a free drink and then you can run up a tab or ask one of the demons for counterfeit currency..."

"Thank you, your -"

"Sorry?"

"I don't know your title."

"Wanted outlaw. I'm going to be emperor of the multiverse but we've got some Melkors to kill first."

Cam drops a pleasingly clinky sack of solid gold doubloons because why not on Bar's surface and says, "Start Findekáno a tab. - That is your name, right, the others match." And he puts a wing around the future emperor of the multiverse.

Who kisses him. 

This world had no 'drama' between the Maitimo and the Findekáno, and Cam disapproved of 'drama'. So either Cam was sufficiently exciting that Maitimo'd let his go and disclaimed any such behavior, or this Maitimo was much better at discretion - in any case it's good news, but not the kind it'd be wise to look too delighted at. "Yes, that's my name," he says, trying to settle for neutrally pleased.

"You should also see the outside, I find it more designed for Elf sensibilities. Cam can make us a table out by the lake, we can get you caught up on electronics -" Inconvenient how Cam doesn't have osanwë and can't be told why to play along with this - 

"Yeah, sure. My curriculum or yours, the trajectories'll be different..."

"I'm inclined to go with yours, I have things sketched for humans and similar populations we're bringing a lot of demons and dropping modern infrastructure on but nothing particularly suited to catching Elves fighting Melkor with swords up - are you literate -"

"Yes," he says, and follows them outside.

"I am actually educated in electrical engineering but it was very much a For Demons course, I'll have to keep pausing in the middle of stuff to look up how you're supposed to do things like insulate wires or whatever when you can't just make them that way, but we'll muddle along."

Backyard! Table! Electrical engineering lessons!

And when the electrical engineering lessons are done, "so, I don't want to be confrontational or anything, but most of what you said to me inside was a lie and I find that very worrying."

He finds himself quite unable to move or look at Maitimo. If Maitimo guesses anyway - 

"Huh?"

"How my father died, whether he knew anything more useful than the latest swords - it might be he doesn't trust us yet, which is reasonable, but -"

...Cam is not sure if he's supposed to remain present for this exchange or what.

"Sorry. If you would prefer not to stick around you don't have to, but I'd rather have you here, in case you think of something I'm missing and also because he was considerably more relaxed before he saw me - Findekáno, is there anyone here you'd prefer to be talking to -"

Frozen. Not looking at them.

"I'm sorry? I can avoid calling you out on it in the future, just - how did my father die, does he know things more important to us than 'swords' -"
