"I'm sort of drawing a blank. Or, rather, an'all the options flitting through my head are terrible.'"

"Well, doesn't have to be today. How about your Earth? Sentinel, or is that too depressing?"

"That would be like calling you Morgoth because your world had one. Smaller scale, I suppose, but same principle. I do not want to be called the thing that murdered my parents and has been hunting my people to extinction."

"Your Earth, not you."

"Okay, would you want your world to be called Morgoth?"

"If it were the only one? Yeah, I think so. We call Singularity Singularity. But if it bothers you we can definitely come up with something else."

"Yes. Let's name it after mutants, that's a much better idea. I suppose 'mutatis mutandes' is a bit of a mouthful."

"A bit."

"...Genesis. Anyway, if you were the only one with a Morgoth wouldn't you also be the only one with Elves, why would you pick naming your world after the scourge of your people instead of after your people."

"If we were the only ones with Elves or Morgoth, sure. You can ask Bar if there are other Earths with mutants if you want to know, but Genesis is perfectly nice as a name."

"Sorry, I just--sorry." Her hands shake.

"It's okay. We've all been insulated from our worlds' horribleness a while longer."

The shaking spreads. Lodestar hugs her.

"These two should probably take a year of decompression time or something, Bar, can you get them rooms?"

Certainly. Bar provides keys and room numbers.

"No. Not separate rooms."

The keys are replaced with a single key to a different room.

"Thank you. ... I can't sleep if she's not standing watch."

"I'm not sure more being alone is the best way to decompress."

"You can also hang out down here if you want, but you look exhausted."

"There's a couch."

He shrugs and does not comment further.

"...Don't think I'll be able to fall asleep for a while. Survival instincts."

It is not like she has to justify it to him. 

This is her first social interaction with zero stakes that she's had with someone not her twin in half a decade, she's rusty on stuff like that.
