Edie was perusing the latest correspondence from her fork. She still should have been paying enough attention to realize that the door didn't go where it ought before it swung shut and she couldn't sense anyone else anymore, but she wasn't.
After opening and closing the door a couple times to make sure she hadn't just been abducted somehow, she looks around.
I'm glad I'm marrying you. I'm glad our alts are expecting a baby with eager anticipation. I'm glad there's--bright things, here, not just, oh, here's another world where things suck to one degree or another...
We really should tell the others about this, she says eventually.
'Nother set of you and Imliss walked in. Their world is, surprise, horrible and they are traumatized.
We should probably meet them, especially if there's anything we can help with.
Her sister isn't, though. "Hi," she says, quietly enough not to wake her sister. "You're the married-and-pregnant ones?"
"That's us, yeah. Also the between-you-and-the-others-in-trauma once, we literally died this one time, it wasn't fun. Tyelcormo had a much worse time of it than I did, I was just unconscious the whole time I was dead and he was pining horribly."
