It's her first evening away from home, and even Papa's strong mental presence has left her range by now.
It's lonely.
She knows that humans aren't lesser than mutants, per se, but she's still used to a different flavor of minds thrumming against hers when she's trying to go to sleep.
She and Emily aren't the only mutants on campus, though. There aren't a lot of them, but there's one other, at least...
She reaches out to them.
Hello?
"You get dibs on any weird teeth."
He looks for a mirror in which to vaguely fix his appalling bedhead.
A mirror: exists.
Edie decides that the correct course of action is to comb his hair with her fingers.
Clearly the best course of action is to return the favor!
This looks ridiculous. He loves it.
"You are so damn cute."
His hair looks halfway decent now!
"Breakfast?"
"I need to change into fresh clothes first.
You're welcome to watch if you want."
Emily finally succeeds in dragging herself out of bed, and this time he is going to need to turn his back.
He does so, and will stare at the wall until somebody tells him otherwise.
He turns around.
"Safe implies I'd get maimed or something if I--"
He thinks.
"Actually, fair enough."
He thinks about that for a second.
"...yyyes, but also don't do that because it'd be weird."
He glances over at Edie.
"--I mean, I assume they can also be removed in ways other than tearing them out."
"I guess that makes sense, if the holes always heal closed when you do."
