It's her first evening away from home, and even Papa's strong mental presence has left her range by now.
It's lonely.
She knows that humans aren't lesser than mutants, per se, but she's still used to a different flavor of minds thrumming against hers when she's trying to go to sleep.
She and Emily aren't the only mutants on campus, though. There aren't a lot of them, but there's one other, at least...
She reaches out to them.

"No. I don't make a habit of bothering people without provocation. If hurting people I care about is supposed to make me leave you alone, it's profoundly counterproductive."

"Blowing a kiss is really not as big a deal as you're making of it. Also: have you considered using words instead of violence? Like. 'That made me uncomfortable, please do not do it again.'"
“He did it in front of everybody.”
She looks around and then leans in:
“Do you have any idea how hard it is to have a good reputation around here? You are screwing this up for us.”
"If you imagine I care more about your reputation than about my boyfriend, I think you should probably rethink your own priorities. I can ask him to cut it out with the kiss-blowing, but assaulting people and poisoning their food is. Not. Acceptable. I am willing to talk about this peacefully. I prefer it, even. But if I have to resort to your tactics to keep me and mine safe? You'll lose."
She starts to back away.
“...Stay away from us. Just don’t touch any of us. Got it?”
She’s trying to keep looking angry. She turns and stalks away a little faster than necessary.
He’s leaning back against the a tree in the quad.

Mutants don't actually have consistent psychological differences from humans.
Just a clean slate from which to derive new and exciting fuckups.
Well...that's a lot nicer than throwing acorns at things and being mad.
It really is! He has great plans. Further kissing is also a great plan.

It takes him a minute to get used to it, but he definitely likes it.
After a minute he pulls back reluctantly.
