It's her first evening away from home, and even Papa's strong mental presence has left her range by now.
It's lonely.
She knows that humans aren't lesser than mutants, per se, but she's still used to a different flavor of minds thrumming against hers when she's trying to go to sleep.
She and Emily aren't the only mutants on campus, though. There aren't a lot of them, but there's one other, at least...
She reaches out to them.

He still feels a little like he could drop at any moment, and how amazing is that.
Definitely returned!
He is just gonna keep enjoying the ride and grinning like a maniac.
Eventually it starts getting late.
Want me to drop you off at your dorm?
By this time he is a little exhausted from both the excitement and the unexpectedly significant physical effort of being flown around by someone else.
yeah, please. way better than walking.

She maneuvers over to above his dorm and then drops all three of them in front of the front door.

He's surprisingly strong -- he almost lifts her off the ground without really meaning to, in the fading glow of his excitement.
She giggles delightedly, gives him a brief contemplative look, and then kisses him.

At first, he's just shocked. Never mind that they've been flirting all day, that was clearly entirely divorced from reality and this was totally unexpected.
He's terrified, for just a moment, that she doesn't really know what she's doing, or that this is all somehow a trap.
She keeps kissing him and makes a happy noise and winds her arms around his neck.
He puts his hands on her shoulders to keep himself from actually picking her up this time.
Any second now he's gonna stop this. Her sister is right there, this is probably weird...
Aaany second now.
...well, it'd just be rude to stop before she does.
He is so, so okay with this turn of events.
"I didn't think the whirlwind college romance would start this fast."
"That's because you didn't factor a kickass telepath into your plans."
"Definitely.
And for the record, I liked it when you picked me up."
And then she kisses him again.
Well, then, he's just gonna go ahead and pick her up. And kiss her. That part's important.
After a minute, he pulls back reluctantly.
"...wow. I really like you too."
Dumb grin.
