"I love you. I - I don't know what to think about second chances - but it means a lot to me that you feel that way."

Hug. "Well. I do."

Snuggle. "I love you so much," he murmurs.

"Love you lots and lots."

Nuzzle. "Mmm."

...She starts giggling.

"What?"

"Oh, I'm just remembering when they found me and said I had apparently stepped out of a historical play..."

"My magic wardrobes tend to run a little old-fashioned."

"I mean, I'm definitely used to a wide variety of fashions! I travel a lot. Often among humans. And am super old even for an elf. It's just...sort of weird that they saw 'old-fashioned clothes' and their first thought was historical play and not, like, 'super old person, probably do not fuck with' or anything like that. Your world is very strange to me."

"As far as most of this world knows there is only one person in the 'super old, do not fuck with' category, and you don't match his description." Kiss.

Kiss. "I know! It's super weird! I am not even particularly notorious or anything in most circles back home."

Giggle.

"And everyone's human!"

"It is a little weird that humans are a common thread between the worlds."

"Yeah. But--only one species, no matter which one...is it going to sound bad if I say this place feels kind of--uncosmopolitan?"

"...depends what you mean, I guess."

"Like, in my original plane the places I've been or heard of with only one species and zero to one old powerful people were mostly absolute backwaters, and therefore through no fault of its own your world kind of reminds me of them?"

He laughs.

"I wonder why no one's found this plane before."

"Has anyone found a plane where magic works completely differently before in general?"

"I mean...there are planes where, like, people are mostly not wizards or sorcerers, divine magic works super different when it's 'gods being gods' and not 'clerics using the power the gods gave them', Celestials and Infernals' powers work completely differently--and the Origin--"

"The what?"

"Celestials and Infernals are Good and Evil aligned beings who both originated from a previous category of being known as the Origin. Not much is known about what exactly happened, but it's generally believed that all of the Origin who existed at the time either became one or the other or died. However, people of Origin descent have the ability to become Origin. There are at least two that I know of in existence."

"Huh."
