One of them is, in fact, a girl slightly younger than Aloy - she looks Nora, going by the smudged traces of face paint, though she's dressed in the same rags as everyone else. "I'll help the others," she says as soon as Aloy unlocks her, holding out her hand for the key. "We need to go - can you make sure there's no reinforcements?"

"If you're okay."

Aloy's pretty sure she got everyone the first pass, so she's not really expecting reinforcements.

...Unfortunately, she'd be wrong!

There's a tight cluster of guards around a man in very fancy armor approaching.

Well where the fuck did they come from.

...Firebomb first, questions later. Seriously, why are they so tight, it's like they've never heard of explosives.

Probably because of the narrow door! They do start fanning out after getting through - but not before her bomb hits. It doesn't bring them all down, but they're staggered and disrupted.

Aloy wades in with her spear.

The Nora girl - probably Nakoa - finds a spear somewhere and comes to help.

She zeros in on the guy in fancy armor, snarling, "Zaid!" - before taking him down with quick, brutal strikes, and then killing him as cleanly as possible without stopping to gloat.

"He was the one you were after?" she says, when they're done.

"Yeah." She looks down. "He tortured and killed my family in front of me, during the Red Raids."

"I'm sorry."

"It's over now, though." She does kneel to check that he's dead. And, quietly: "My father was a hunter. He taught me that every animal deserves a clean kill."

"Better than that one deserved."

"No. He was an animal, and he got what every animal deserves."

Nod.

They need to get the other rescued prisoners to safety, now - they're in varying levels of good shape.

Aloy can help with that. Maybe not so much the direction, she doesn't know these lands.

Sounds like the gate Aloy entered at is actually the nearest settlement.

She does know where that is!

Then it's doable to get everyone to safety.

Good. And hopefully everyone can settle in? Approximately?

They can get aid, at least, and the guards can get a statement from Aloy about what happened.

Uh, sure.

She can mostly escape too much questioning, though, since Nakoa takes charge there.

Good that she's still got herself together enough for that.

She seems like someone who's pretty disinclined to slow down - or let herself fall apart.
