"Oh! And while you're here, I might as well give you the HM for Cut as well. Uh, I don't think either of your Pokémon can use it at the moment, but it might be useful later." She hands him something that looks like a CD.

He doesn't know what that is either, but he's clearly supposed to know, so he can't just ask. He accepts it, thanks her, and heads on his way.

It's evening. Does he have anything else he wants to do or would he rather just head back to the Pokémon Center?

It's a long shot, but what happens if he tries putting Pops's cell phone number into his Xtransceiver?

Nothing. He can't even put it in, it's the wrong number of digits.

Well. In that case he'll just head back to the Pokémon Center.

There's a couple people hanging out there. Some overlap from yesterday, some new people.

...And, at the counter, the two people he just battled are getting their Pokémon healed.

He reaches for Amadelphous's ball. He's not really expecting them to try fighting him again, but he wants to be prepared.

(Maybe the nurse has some idea of how to get them arrested, beyond "probably gym leaders are involved somehow"? But there's not really a good way to ask without alerting them, and then they might just leave. He misses living somewhere with a normal, functional legal system.)

They're not stupid. They hurry out as soon as they notice him.

He goes over to the nurse and hands her the balls. "The two people who just left tried to kidnap a Pokémon earlier. Do the gym leaders have the power to arrest them?"

She blinks. "Legally yes, in practice I'm not sure where they'd keep them, it would be pretty hard to stop them from just breaking out of the gym. Do they still have the stolen Pokémon, if they come back I could try and keep it to give it back to the trainer?"

"No, they don't, but I don't want them to keep kidnapping people's Pokémon!"

"Well, hopefully they learned their lesson? If they cause enough disruption the International Police might get involved, but I doubt they'd do anything about petty theft."

How do they have Interpol and not have, like, regular jail that they can stick people in??

"Thank you for your help."

He buys a sandwich. (He should probably figure out a more stable source of income. He has enough money to purchase food tomorrow, but probably not the day after.) Does anyone here in the Pokémon Center have anything interesting to say?

They are discussing who they think Elesa should date.

Can he tell who Elesa is?

She's a supermodel! Also a gym leader, specializing in electric types. For some reason she owns, or possibly lives in, a roller coaster.

She should date this other gym leader named Skyla. She should date a different gym leader named Brycen. She should date some mini-celebrity who really likes battling Pokémon on moving trains. She should date Lieutenant Surge, he's also an Electric specialist. Yes, the clerk who proposed that knows he's never been to Unova, why is that an issue?

He has no context on who any of these people are so hopefully no one expects him to have opinions.

The person who thinks she should date the trains guy briefly tries to recruit him but he's not very pushy about it.

Eventually the lights go off and people settle down to sleep.

He lets Orchid out of the ball and does the same. Here, she can sleep on his jacket.

When he wakes up in the morning, he has absolutely no recollection of any of his dreams. There's some black mist floating near Orchid.

He was supposed to call Fennel about that! He takes out his Xtransceiver and attempts to do so.

She is asleep, like a normal person who does not have to follow the absurd schedules of a Pokémon Center.
