"Fine, take it."

The one holding it shoves it into his arms, along with a Pokéball. (It's a lot heavier than it looks.)

It would be really convenient if he could just call the police right now. He glances at the woman in the lab coat. 

She can't think of a justification for keeping them here now that they've returned the Munna. "You can let them go now."

That's kind of upsetting! (They were definitely not being very nice to their Pokémon but maybe that's not illegal?)

He lets them go.

They leave, arguing about whose fault it was.

He starts floating and baps Sebastian with his nose.

"So, what was that about?"

"They came in here looking for some Dream Mist. When I said I didn't have any yet, they took Munna and started trying to provoke it into releasing it."

"Dream Mist?"

"Munna and Musharna give it off, likely based on the dreams of people and Pokémon around them but that hasn't been confirmed with certainty. It has some important uses in computing, do you want the technical explanation?"

He would definitely not be able to follow the explanation.

"Your explanation so far is sufficient."

Bap! Bap!

"I think it likes you."

She hesitates.

"Do you want to keep it? Normally I wouldn't just give up a research subject like that, but, well..."

...He looks at Amadelphous.

Chirp chirp! She wraps her feelers around the Munna.

"I'd be happy to. What's its name? Is there anything I should know about how to take care of it?"

"I don't usually name my research subjects, do you want to pick one and I'll update its registration? Munna mostly don't have unusual care needs, but it'll probably be happier if you leave it out of its ball while you sleep and let it eat your dreams."

Eat ... his ... dreams???

The Munna has a floral pattern and a connection to dreams. He could name it after a flower? 'Lily' is a nice name... no wait, that's what the girl's dog was named back in the other city, people might assume it was a Lillipup.

"How about 'Orchid'?"

"Sounds fine to me." She fiddles with a setting on the Pokéball, then hands it back to him. "There, that should update its legal registration, though obviously you're going to want to call it its name until it gets used to it." 

Bap!

"While you're at it, would you mind letting me know if you observe anything unusual about its mist? No need to go out of your way, I can register you in my Xtransceiver."

"What's a cross-transceiver?"

She looks surprised. "It's how you talk to people in other cities?" She taps something that looks kind of like a smartwatch. "I should have some extras if you want one..."

Sure, he will take a wrist-cellphone-thing. (The one she hands him has a single contact in it, registered under the name "Fennel," with a photo of her.)
