The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"I'll look you up in a hundred years and if you still think so we can debate it again."
"I will look up the magical zombie who cares about everything you care about, has thought processes continuous with you, remembers your life, and is you in every single respect except 'the way you use that word'."
"I didn't really want to be condescended to by a magical zombie but I got it anyway."
"If you don't want people to be condescending to you you could try not telling them that they're zombies and delusional for thinking otherwise."
"If you don't want to be called delusional you could try not telling them that someone who's died lives on as a magical zombie."
"I was murdered. I'm right here. I am not going to stop talking about what happened to me because illiterate rock people will misinterpret it."
"You're not beach people or valley people or canal network people or Moon people, that's for sure."
"Okay, sorry. You're mountain people and I was still murdered and I am still right here."
She sighs and goes over to her goats and pokes them to a different part of slope.
It works as advertised.
...he drops a note to Bright to check if they've somehow got a weird godspring that makes them see continuity of identity in peoples' eyes, or something. Probably not but he'd feel silly if he assumed they were just wrong and actually they were all mages.
On inspection she was from a country with no godsprings that refused dots.
People are surprised he can swim with the wings. Did he have to relearn how.
Learning to swim when you don't need to breathe and can't get tired isn't very hard, and if you don't know how to use the wings to make it easier you can ignore them.
