When Hyacinth comes home to her new apartment for the first time after a long day at university, it's to the sight of moving bots just finishing dropping off the last of her stuff and moving furniture into place. The full-immersion VR pod her parents gave her is safely hooked up in the pod room, her bed is in her bedroom, she has chairs and a desk and some bookshelves. Clothes are mostly still in boxes, waiting to be hung up in the closet. Holovid and a cozy chair occupy the living room. She doesn't have any food in the small kitchen yet.
Next up she'll try and lock...
[Extinguish + Fire + Bolt + Splash Spell + Held Spell + Mana Efficiency], that can be Quell Flames.
After that... She'll add Mana Efficiency and Held Spell to Repel and just call it Repel II.
So she has Flare for offense, Repel II for defense, and Quell Flames to get control of fire that gets out of hand.
For her fourth ability...
She could keep Shove/Leap for feats of physical strength, or slot Cure Wounds with some Mana Efficiency, or try Extinguish Force...
She's going to try to slot [Extinguish + Force + Splash Spell + Held Spell]. And that can be... She's not sure. Grease? She really hopes it's Grease, Grease is a killer spell.
She can't fit more than five nodes into an ability graph at this point, sadly. She may have to redesign Quell Flames. Also, she doesn't quite manage Grease with that last combination, instead getting a form of slowing field of intangible stickiness.
She'll drop Held Spell from Quell Flames, it's already sticky.
Okay, so it's the opposite of Grease. Glue. She'll keep it and just rename it.
"So I'm looking at ability builds and I seem to be able to come up with a kind of sticky glue field by using extinguish force with splash. Think it's worth trying, or is things being on fire enough crowd control?"
She laughs and grins a bit dangerously. "Oh that's perfect. We'll have to see how high up it goes, or if you can exempt allies from the stickiness. I think you should be able to. If so, then I can just dance into the flames and slice everyone you've trapped to ribbons."
"Something to try on the practice field, for sure." She grins back and takes another bite of her bread.
"Overall this seems like those goats won't know what hit them."
She smirks playfully and nods, then lifts Sin's hand to her lips for a soft kiss.
"So, um, we were going to go pick up those leathers from the leatherworker..."
"Yep!" She pops the last of her breakfast into her mouth, then stands up. "We should get going."
She does not let go of Sin's hand.
The leatherworker waves as they come in, immediately ducking into the back to grab the armor. "Here you both go," he says when he returns, setting a pile of leathers in front of each girl.
Sable equips hers as well. They fit perfectly, and the color is an excellent match. Hyacinth's are tweaked a bit to give her protection while still letting her look cute in her dress, but it works.
She smiles and looks over at Sable.
"Bounty board? There might be something new apart from goats to read about."
"Yep. According to the myths," the lore, "we're blessed with shards of the dead god Chaos, which is why we can respawn."
"Huh. Cool. I guess that's better than not, but I bet that has a lot of... effects."
She nods. "Blessed are often seen as fickle or flighty, as a group. Individually we can establish a reputation of being trustworthy, but some people default to that perspective about us."
"Makes sense as a stereotype given that many blessed operate for reasons that people who live here would have no clue about."
She follows Sable along towards the inn.
