The music's lovely! He kisses his wife also and watches the Timothys mingle and then finds Fannar to ask him questions about idiolects.

Miranda attempts to talk to the Cricket, but she doesn't have Allspeak yet and he still is not allowed it himself, so she doesn't get very far.

Fannar would be happy to translate!

He's got Cricket's language? All right then. She tells Cricket about her own Cricket, who cannot talk but has this phrasebook, and is mostly a magical near-cat species but rounds to "cat" well enough.

Hm yes this person seems like an adequate custodian of a him.

Midnight rolls around and people can get to be indestructible.

And then the kids should really get some sleep.

"Noooo I want to pet the animals," says Catherine, who has discovered that there are more of them than Cricket around.

"Cricket from back home will let you pet him," says Miranda. "And the owls."

"I saw a weasel."

"Maybe Theodore will find you a weasel."

"I bet he'd be delighted. And you can pet dragons, if you'd like and they'd like, now that you're indestructible."

"I am still going to be so terrified when she tries that," mutters Rebecca.

"DRAGONS," says Catherine.

Hug. "I'll try it first, if that'll help." And home they go.

"Maybe Theodore should be indestructible and try it first," Rebecca says. (Catherine runs off to find Kat and tell her about the animals she petted which Kat will also get to pet later.)

"He does it even not indestructible."

"This is a factor!"

Elsewhere someone knocks on the Dwimmer's door.

Benjamin answers the door. "Hello."

"Hi. I hear Karen's alive."

"Yes! She's back now! She is in the bath fixing her hair. She got wooly."

"Can you tell her I'm here?"

"No, I dunno who you are. Who are you?"
