Karen is informed by owl that she's a prefect. She writes her friends about that, of course.
Rebecca is absolutely wrung out and maybe wants Minor's healer girlfriend to nip over and wave a wand at her before they resume attempts at bad Catholic birth control. (St. Mungo's won't have her.)
Catherine peers down into the bassinet.
"Papa she's very small."
"I don't think that'd be a very good idea but I can hold her and you can pat her. Gently."
After not very long Joanna wants her mother.
"Is it always that bad?" he asks Rebecca, handing her over.
"Oh it's much easier the second time," Rebecca mumbles. She is tired enough to have a little trouble getting Joanna latched on. Eventually they manage it.
"What kind of sadistic asshole of a god - it's not really the time, is it - love you -"
He asks his father why he didn't invent something for it - "six times -"
"Yes, it's appalling, isn't it? I did look into it but my experimental potions energy is all directed Philosopher's Stone-wards - you could have a go -"
"With what expertise, it's not especially a problem you can sing at -"
"I did encourage you in the acquisition of other skills."
"The little remote singing devices are doing well but they don't fix this either."
"Time. Time and progress."
Minor gets an owl and is very pleased and lets Miranda know that Rebecca asked her to stop by on the weekend if she doesn't mind.
So Miranda Floos over on Saturday and sees Rebecca privately and Rebecca feels much better after that, if still terribly sleep-deprived what with having to wake up five or six times a night.
Her husband does not endeavor to worsen the sleep-deprivation problem but can't really do much to help with it. The elves (all nine of them, now) dote on both girls.
She was recently screaming in horrible agony he's in favor of the most reliable kind of bad Catholic birth control!
She nurses Joanna and tries to get sleep and eats like a horse and whenever her husband is in arm's reach she clings to him like a starfish and sleepily tries to convince him that it wasn't THAT bad c'mon.
....activities that definitely can't result in pregnancy can perhaps delay sleep a little?
