::Insofar as a fallen Sith is the same sort of thing, I'm sure we'll find out sooner or later.::

Permalink

::Not exactly, it's more the, aggressive, recruitment policy that I'm wondering about.  Whether a Ring would try me on for size.  And I don't look like a Force-sensitive to you, right?  So that's not going to be the same answer.::

Permalink

"Ah." ::Yeah, you're not, there's no way I could miss it at this range.::

Permalink

::Do I look particularly weird to your senses, like, just me without the staff?  I'm really curious what differences there might be, given, everything.::

She can plonk the staff in the sand and stand back for a second, if necessary.

Permalink

Pradnakt squints at the two of them for a moment, and then does.... something, it's not clear what but Diana can feel it in the air. ::Try using it now. Without picking it up.::

Permalink

::...hmm...::

Well, she knows the feeling of her own staff in her hands so well as to be able to recreate it from memory, and she can muster compassion enough for herself at the sheer dysphoria of being separated from it, so...

Permalink

The staff flies through the air to thump satisfyingly into Diana's hand.

Permalink

Diana's thoughts, as she spins on a dime to catch the staff without even opening her eyes, are best summarized as ::!!!::.

Permalink

::That wasn't me, to be clear. There's some sort of - I'd call it a bond but it's almost more like the two of you are in some sense one entity.::

Permalink

Diana makes a noise of inarticulate confusion, but does seem to 'get it', based on the feelings in the empathic link.

"It's, but, how could I have so thoroughly...?"

...Oh, whoops, she forgot to use her brain words for that.

::It is?  I believe you, I just...don't know how this sort of thing would be?::

Permalink

::Couldn't tell you.:: The odd sense in the air fades. ::Anyway, I think you could learn to do that without the boost, if you wanted to.::

Permalink

::I would very much like to.::

Permalink

::You might be able to just do it, now that you know what it feels like. If not we can practice with me reducing the boost bit by bit.::

Permalink

...Well.  She knows how to believe.  And when that belief is mixed with compassion for herself, having only now found a limb she thought she was missing, it...hopefully works?

Permalink

It's noticeably more difficult - not that it takes more effort, exactly, but she has to make the right mental motion much more accurately. But when she does, the staff flies to her hand just as readily as it did the first time.

::Good.::

Permalink

Why did that single word somehow fluster her, oh no.

...now that she's thinking about it, what happens if she contemplates that same motion, but in reverse?

Permalink

There's a momentary sense of potential when she gets it just right, but it slides out of position almost immediately without doing anything; it seems like it would need something to brace against, or to stabilize it, or something, in some metaphorical sense.

Permalink

::...Huh.::

Permalink

::Yeah I'm not sure what that was. I might have a guess once I've figured out more about it in general.::

Permalink

::It felt a lot like it was...Missing something to brace against?  Except, like, in this weird sort of inverted way like there was this weird slingshot-pulley construction that only really makes sense in my brain's weird kinesthetic-understanding almost-synesthesia sort of thing - I almost think it's part of how the guy who apparently made his Lanterns with magic might've started out.  It feels like it's how I claim another one.  Except, y'know, there aren't any other Lanterns 'round these parts.  And I daren't even try with your kybers; the warm colors are only good for my mindset in small doses.::

Permalink

::If we make one it'll start out clear, and I don't know how to do 'cool colors' offhand but that's the sort of thing Force sensitives' intuition is good for.::

Permalink

::Well, here's hoping.::

Permalink

::We'll find out, yeah. I'm going to send Daisy off to town tonight, and then it'll be a few more days for the supplies to come in.::

Permalink

::Alright.  Thank you, again.  You didn't have to do any of this, and yet you did.  It speaks well of you.::

Permalink

She gives an amused snort. ::You know, if you'd tried to assert that I did have to, this would have gone much worse for you.::
