::I think I'd certainly like a book or something.  What are you planning about, if that's not too - much?  Invasive?  I like to imagine I'm helpful with planning, though I'm sorely deprived of most of the context I'd need to be properly good at it.::

::We'd been gearing up to leave, so I've been writing all my big artwork ideas up for later rather than figuring out where to put them here; I'm going to go through those and see what I want to make over the next few months. There'll be changes to make in the garden and things, too, but that's all either straightforward or Daisy's to decide on.::

::Ahh.  I'm more of an aspiring engineer, but I think I recognize that feeling.  The tradeoffs between trying to reverse-engineer Lantern bullshit and getting better at doing Lantern bullshit...rhyme, I think?::

::I mean, it's a personal project, there's not really that kind of pressure.::

::Very true.  ...Didn't do much that wasn't the job, honestly.  Probably should've made more time for things that weren't that.::

::Well, you have time now - the offer to get you supplies stands, too.::

::Yeah.  It's - really appreciated.  I'm just also not sure what to do for a hobby?::

::Well, what parts of engineering are your favorite?::

::I'm not sure.  Solving problems, with the work of my hands and my mind.  The structure and directness of it.::

::So something puzzley and hands-on; real mass rather than digital, probably? I like sculpture for that, but it's not the only option - could get you a second speeder or something to refurbish, maybe.::

::Refurbishing a speeder sounds like a great project for getting oriented, too.::

::Sounds like a plan, then.::

::Also I am absolutely into having my own cool space bike, in more personal terms.::

::I can show you how to customize the styling, too, I like to do that on my speeders.::

::Sounds great.::  She manages to not transmit anything remotely like 'it's a date', through force of will strong enough that a Green ring might well be impressed.

::I'll let Daisy know. And I was going to get you a book - any requests?::

::"Um!"  I don't know what's good...Also not sure what you have...::  don'tthinkabouterotica don'tthinkabouterotica ::...Mystery novels?::

::Most of my collection is poetry, but I've got a mix of other stuff. Mystery novels, hm - yeah, I've got a couple prospects there. I'll get you a couple of short story collections, too, give you an idea of what our genres are like.:: She heads for the back.

::Ooh, short story collections, good thought.  Thank you!::

She's back in a few minutes with a handful of datadiscs in labeled sleeves. ::These aren't primarily mystery novels, but they have elements of that - this one is mostly slice-of-life but the protagonist is trying to figure out what happened to her friend and this one is a science thriller where figuring out the science is part of the plot. And then this one is a compilation of poetry and realistic short fiction, this one is a collection of short stories by a bunch of people from obscure species and unusual cultures, and this one's a 'best of the year' collection from a few years back. Did Daisy show you how to load things into the reader?::

She can probably figure this out even if Daisy has done no such thing!  Technology is technology!  ...Except when it's bullshit, but then it's not really technology, is it?  Besides!  Insert disc into slot!  ...Well, it might also be "find the correct button", but still!

It's not particularly hard to figure out; there's a bit on the side that's obviously the right size for a datadisk and the button right above it pops it open. It might take her two tries to figure out which side of the disc is down, but Pradnakt seems content to let her work that out herself, and moves off when she sees she's got it, floating a couple of glasses from one of the kitchen cabinets to the table while she fills a pitcher from another one at the sink, then sending it to follow them while she goes to put snacks - the remaining yogurt drops, plus sunflower seeds and chocolate chips - into bowls to go over as well.

::It's kind of odd, I think, that - my planet feels more networked than yours so far.  I would have expected to download these from a server somewhere, not pop a disc into a dedicated terminal.::

::Yeah, we're really out in the sticks here. Both us personally and the planet. Most places we would have satellite even living away from people like this, but,:: she shrugs. ::It wasn't a priority, and I did want a planet without slaves on it.::
