"If I knew the answer to that specifically then I would be more sure than I am that that was it." 

"They won't tell you?"

"They...don't generally give straight answers to questions at all, and I am not yet skilled enough at asking questions that will give me the information I want to draw too many conclusions about the fact that they haven't told me." 

"...troubling."

"I know they're, like, not as value aligned with me as I'd like, but most people aren't, and they're pretty old and weird? Most people would do worse with the amount of power they have, I wouldn't call myself a huge fan obviously but they did fix my Outsider influence which is a pretty good first step."

"Yeah, they seem... fine? But kind of in a moral triage 'walking wounded' sense."

"The thing is that with moral triage you don't just have to consider how badly they're doing, but what kinds of levers they're sitting on. I think they're an excellent prospect for a redemption arc, if I can swing it. That's a more long-term plan, though, I like to have lots of irons in the fire."

"It is one of your neat qualities. Speaking of your qualities and them being neat are chats like this a routine thing or just a one-time awakening deal?"

"They're not a one-time Awakening deal, if you'd rather leave and do some research before finalizing things and Awakening. My attention is much greater than a human's but not actually infinite so I don't answer every prayer I receive like this but a) Anything related to the honeytrap is going to be very high-priority for the next while, b) you're already friends with my doppelganger, which makes us transitively socially linked, c) I like your fate shadow, and d) I already know you're not going to be weird about face time with a deity." 

"I don't feel a need to go research things before finalizing, no, since I have some points saved up for later."

"There are things you can't change after Awakening, though, so it's better to be aware of the option. Admittedly less so when your class and race aren't a free variable."

"Am I locking in anything you think I may regret?"

"No, but I know lots of things you don't, and if you wanted to do research from sources that weren't me then that would be perfectly reasonable."

"I think I'm good. I did poke around witch books for a while already."

"Oh, good. --It's not that I expect mistrust, per se, I'd just rather err on the side of not making the obvious god mistakes." 

"I appreciate that."

"Anyway, we were discussing expensive wild magics...hm. There's an obscure one that one of my daughters is really into, that now that I think about it might be particularly applicable to your situation--it, uh, turns you into a magical girl--no, I do not know why--anyway, that gives you a bonus mana source and there are some magical abilities that seem particularly useful to someone in your position."

"Am I not already a magical girl? Is this a technical term? What does it do?"

"You are already magical and a girl, but magical girl in this sense refers to a mundie fiction trope, and whoever designed this thing--because it was definitely designed--based it off that trope. For six points you can buy a 'well,' which gives you another, emotion-based, source of mana, and then for a point apiece you can buy 'ranks' in 'rites,' and you could upgrade your mothergifts if you had them, and you can buy an upgrade for a witch familiar if you want--no idea if that interacts with wizard familiars. Anyway, the real prizes are in the 'Astra,' 'Circa,' and 'Reserves' rites--the Reserves rite expands your mana storage, the Circa one lets you make circles within which your magic is boosted significantly, and Astra lets you create an area of, uh, 'loosened reality,' that makes things cost less mana--Circa and Astra do other things but those are the big ones."

"Like enclaves do? How expensive is that to maintain?"

She gets the consulting-other-threads look in her eyes. "About the cost of a rank-three witch spell to set it up, negligible drain while it's held steady but you can't move without taking it down and it does take concentration to maintain."

"Huh. Well, popup versions are still good."

"Hang on, let me--okay, have a pamphlet* on the various choices."
