"Untested. And it doesn't cast a big enough shadow for me to see the answer."

"Do you by any chance know of any obscure compounds that only exist in the middle of Jupiter or something, I feel like antimatter and plutonium just have too much mass market appeal for me to assume no one will ever have them behind magic glass in a fancy museum."

Headshake.

"Cave dragon blood? The inside of a maw-mouth?"

"--Inside of a maw-mouth'll work, although for inside to be relevant you'd have to pick touch range, since if a maw-mouth is within three meters of you, then its insides are, and I think if you are within three meters of a maw-mouth you probably want your magic in perfect working order."

"I sure as fuck would, yeah. Touch range maw mouth I'm already profoundly fucked, so is there any reason not to load up on all the... non-hypnosis-related, just because that might somehow manage to ruin my day even worse... problems that can come with it?"

"Not that I can think...of..."

"Um. I'm seriously concerned by the fact that the insides of a maw-mouth would apparently count as common."

"There are a couple that live in the Scholomance, so I have been within a fairly small absolute distance of 'em for four years."

"That shouldn't count, not unless you've interacted with them in some way over that time..."

"I also like, stared at their portraits and contemplated my potential eternal damnation every time I had a mal studies class?"

"No, the existence of the Catholic Church doesn't make actual Hell a more potent Kryptonite."

"...well, I don't know what to tell you, I'm pretty sure I didn't have one under my pillow all this time. But it'll get me many points?"

"I'm not expecting you to be able to explain it, I'm just extremely concerned. That'll get you twenty-three points, out of the thirty points you can use to raise each of cap and starting pool."

"Alrighty! Maybe I can fill 'em both up, that'd be a trick. What else have we got?"

"There's a sensory boost that tends to be overwhelming if you don't compensate for it; there's one that dulls a sense--you can't take them on the same sense and have them cancel out, alas. There's one that twists your fate-shadow to ensure that at some point you're defeated and killed by a sentient enemy; it's inconvenient, but also a one-time ting."

"Do I... already have... a sentient enemy?"

"Not as far as I'm aware. Insofar as I've seen Fate interfere in cases like this, though, it's--to put you in the way of someone who'll take offense at any little thing, or doesn't like your face, not mind control someone into falling in enmity with you."

"I suppose if there's someone out there who will murder people over having a face regardless who might do it to somebody whether I pick this option or not, then I am... perhaps open to dying in this way one time, if you can reliably put me back?"

"I can definitely put you back! Of the thirty-nine warlocks I have who have taken this option, twenty-one of them have already had it come to pass, and I've put them all back fine."

"Gosh, that's somehow more warlocks and/or more people up for being slain by someone who doesn't like their face than I was imagining. I will want to invest in a... painkiller contingency, I guess... oh, are you sure I'll still be a wizard after being put back?"

"--Oh, that's a good thought. Give me a moment." She holds up two fingers for a second, then puts them down and nods. "Yes, that should work fine."

"What are you doing when you check on that?"

"Um--shunting the question to other active threads who are immersed in divine sensory modalities including Divination. In this case what I did was I checked over the large number of probable futures where I establish a presence in your dimension and acquire followers there; there's enough weight where people choose to use my afterlife as a get out of death free card that I can see a clear outline of wizardly powers remaining."

"Neat! Uh, just to check, what is the background stability rate of gods as a class?"

"--Are you asking how often we die? I--assume it's possible but I haven't heard of it, gods so old and undocumented mundanes have forgotten them still hang around, we don't need worship. When we fight we tend to fight by proxy using mortal champions--I haven't done this, you understand, but in general--or interfere with each other's plans--if there's a meaningful attrition rate then it's kept under close enough wraps that I haven't dug it up yet, and I know a number of things I can't tell to mortals even though I want to and it would solve a number of problems."
