From the background noise, she is in a club. 

"Hello? One sec, actually, I can't hear you at all..."

The music is now slightly muffled. "Hello?"

"Hi Julia, this is Jaromira from Atlanta, some people are cooking up a honeypot scheme and I was wondering if I could get the New York enclave's general phone number so we can get in contact with Orion to see if he wants to play."

"Oh! Huh. Yeah, okay. It's 914-553-6181. Don't do something stupid, it'd be really dumb if anyone died now."

"I promise not to do anything stupid, thanks. Have fun, we've earned it."

"I'm having a great time! Bye!"

"Bye!"

She hangs up. 

"914-553-6181," she reports cheerfully.

Which Bella adds to her contacts and then dials. Her half of the conversation sounds like this:

"- I'm a wizard, you can drop the Manhattan Prep thing."

"I'm hoping to be put in touch with Orion Lake, he was in my year, is he all right?"

"Yeah, I'm glad to hear that he's in one piece!"

"Bella Swan, New Orleans."

"Thank you."

"Yeah, I'll just text him, thank you."

"And you didn't even have to bring up the honeypot!"

"I didn't actually get his number, they're going to give it to him with my name, I was just warned not to ring it without his say-so."

Meanwhile, Marcy has been texting the rest of the squad 

and they have shown up

to stare at the situation 

in person.

Marcy introduces them to everyone whose names she's heard. "Would you like me to call my parents and see about a meeting with our council? And can we use one of those portals to bring Annisa here? It's better guarded than her parents's place." And it will be a concrete thing Annisa's parents can see happening.

"I'll need a picture of her current location."

"Can you arrange that they be expecting us so they don't think we're mals?"

“None of us are in a shape that doesn’t look more human than not…”

"The portal would be startling."

"I have explained everything I know to explain and now if you don't show up by portal eventually they will decide I snapped from the stress of graduating." She says it in the tone of a joke but it's probably also true. Fortunately she can drop 'interface with Annisa's parents' on Abigail with minimal problems if need be.

Chu Wanning puts up the portal at the location of the picture. 

Portals: very cool when they're not sneaking up on you. Marcy takes a photo of the portal to include in the email she's drafting.

Annisa's father is a tired, wan man who possesses Annisa's precise facial expression of 'don't count on me if this, which is not what I would do, goes wrong in some spectacular fashion'. 

A younger sibling old enough it'd be ill-advised to be too far from his parents sits silently behind Annisa's father. Some younger younger-siblings play in the yard.

Chu Wanning is absolutely judging him but fortunately she has sufficient resting bitch face that nobody should be able to tell, except probably A-Sao who won't care.
