... Is that flirting or not flirting? Unclear, and probably time for a change of subject. "I might need your help knowing what the students will expect."

"Wizard students usually study every minute they're awake, if they know what's good for them. At least in Cheliax. In Absalom sometimes they get drunk and have love affairs and write poetry, I'm told."

"At least they'll already come with good study skills." ...or horrifyingly inefficient ones.

"I think Chrisor is going to try to get some of the better students at Ostenso Wizarding Academy, so good study skills. --You're so tired all the time when you're a wizard."

Genuine vulnerability! Good people like vulnerability. It's weird to be vulnerable in front of the tailor but, like Chrisor says, he's only a tailor and not a person.

"And that makes spells very difficult to cast?"

"You get enough sleep, you have to, but-- when you're a student you're studying constantly in order to keep up with all the other students who are also studying constantly. When you're at the Worldwound there's always another crisis, there's always more work to do than people to do it, you get an afternoon off maybe once a week and most of the time there's a demon incursion and you have to work it anyway, and when you've run out of spells for the day there's studying and practicing and trading for new spells in your spellbook and trying to keep the new graduates from accidentally killing themselves and paperwork. So much godsdamned paperwork. I think this is the first time since second circle that I've been caught up on paperwork and that's because I'm the highest ranking person presently here and I refuse to assign myself any."

"You could always give yourself an afternoon off as well. I can lock myself in the library and politely not get murdered."

"We're going to buy you clothes, aren't we?"

"If you count this as an afternoon off, I'm not going to quibble." Is it though?

Of course it's an afternoon off! The only spell he has going is Detect Thoughts and that doesn't count.

"Anyway, afternoons off are for people who have made fifth circle."

"You'll just have to get rich off teleport and make up for all your missed days off."

"Rich wizards spend all their time going to parties and networking with nobles. I'd rather do things. A demon is either dead or it isn't, you can't talk it into dying with a headband of Splendour and a really persuasive argument why it should be."

"You could always take up a hobby. "

"And then I'd get fucked over because of something that happened at all those parties I'm not going to and wind up back at the Worldwound anyway." Or dead.

"We should really just make politicking parties illegal."

"Can't make things illegal if people are going to do them anyway, it's bad for everyone's Law. That's one reason we don't really ban alcohol."

"Alas."

"I've taken your measurements, sir," the tailor says.

"How long until they're ready?" Tanidio says.

The tailor has been briefed. "Six weeks."

"That's absurd. He doesn't have any clothes. Surely one shirt--"

"I have other clients that are more important than you," the tailor says, gleeful about being able to say that to an actual Worldwound wizard.

Technically he has some clothes. ... One clothes. ... He is not naked.

"I'm sure we can work out something in the mean time," he says to Tanidio.

"You should be able to have clothes."

"Can you pay me for a rush job?"
