Something they need; there's only so much gossip they can get here, and the sea looks much the same day to day (though Inej has charmed a sailor into explaining navigation by the stars to her, and another into explaining sailing during the daylight hours). 

Hopefully that won't prove too useful to their future endeavors.

"The stars might!"

"I wouldn't mind sticking to where we can follow the streets, after this."

First order of business is tracking down the man who bought the stolen horse.

More difficult without their usual contacts, especially since he'll be hiding from the law as well. 

Well, they have what that thief gave Kaz, and Jesper's pretty good at getting people to gossip at him...

And there can't be that many people who have both the willingness and ability to buy it.

Look for the richest bastards around. 

Yep.

And work it from the other end, find the people who are typically selling these sorts of goods.

"I make a more convincing horse thief than rich dandy," he says knowingly. "Dashing, daring, quick on the draw..."

Kaz nods. "Poor dinner table etiquette..."

"Put my boots on the table, and don't know which fork is which."
