Nod.

"Your other apprentice- are they here?"

"She arrived while I was sleeping, apparently."

"...She's Danni Kim. I faked her death to protect her from Plagueis."

"Oh."

She reaches out to brush Anakin's head.

"After her family died - her father couldn't care for her, so I took her in. I kept up with my obligations to Plagueis, as well as my training, but he... Didn't approve of the distraction. And I think he didn't like that I was trying to be less - angry all the time."

"So he ordered me to kill her and her father."

"You staged the explosion on the ship."

"And the kidnapping. And I manipulated the vigilante rescuers into position."

"All just to save her?"

"Of course."

Nod.

"I didn't bother saving her father, but - "

"Danni's another person I'll never let Plagueis hurt."

Nod. "Your precious people."

"...Yeah."

"They're mine."

"It's good to have people."

"Wouldn't have thought of that as a Jedi sentiment."

"I'm only a padawan."

"Would you give up your people to become a Master, then?"

"Connections are important. No one can live in a vacuum. A Jedi looks for balance, to be tethered to the galaxy but not bound by it."

She looks at Anakin in Elesse's arms - who seems to be trying very hard to form unbreakably deep Force bonds to both Elesse and her mother - and then looks at Elesse, expression somewhat deadpan.

"That sounds like motivated reasoning."

"Are you sure you want to be trying to pick holes here?"

Sigh. 

"Plagueis's greatest threat isn't physical. It's his ability to maneuver. His ability to pick at people, to find their weak points, to shatter everything of who they are and who they wanted to be."

"If a light conversation can find holes, then, yes, I want to pick at them."

"All reasoning is motivated. Again, no one exists in a vacuum. We're all affected by our circumstances."

"What would you do if your High Council told you your attachment to Anakin was inappropriate for a Jedi?"

"I would thank them for their insight and ask if that meant they felt I should retire from the Order."
